Love these cigs. Perfect flavor and body but terrible packaging. No protection what so ever. I had to keep the pack in a ziplock bag to avoid them from drying out. I wish they had the same type of packaging as the super premium black pack (These are much better though). Would buy again. Hoping the filter version comes back in stock soon.

Im not a fan of unfiltered cigs and dont care for cigars very much anymore but been meaning to try an unfiltered kretek. So between the 76, coklat, merah, and this i ended up choosing this and wow what an experience. Im a chain smoker by trade so while i do enjoy many types of cigs, they hardly ever give me a buzz let alone leave me feeling satisfied. Smoking one of these was almost like an event. They are hand rolled so each cig is slightly different but they are all rolled pretty tightly. Once i got it going instantly got the numbness and by maybe 1/5 through it started smoking beautifully. The flavor seemed to change a bit too just little bit of spiciness definitely a bit of sweetness but different like a marshmellowy and brown sugar taste to it. Anyways even if you dont like unfiltered you may be pleasantly surprised like me so i definitely reccomend trying at least one unfiltered kretek. Its not harsh and has a great flavor i would compare to how lights or milds have almost a muted flavor compared to full flavor... Ive already ordered couple other unfiltered to try and will review after i do. As for the package design i believe it has to do with keeping the tradition of the original packaging so i can respect that. It does have the classic or antique look to it. But i couldnt smoke more than a couple a day so i plastic wrapped the pack myself hopefully that will help preserve them.

This was the first Kretek I have smoked and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It is strong with 39mg of tar and 2.3mg of nicotine however it is easy to inhale and very satisfying. I have already ordered some more as nothing I can buy at home compares with these

...why package them like this? Sampoerna Dji Sam Soe 234 comes in a softpack. With no protective plastic on the outside; with no plastic, to seal the flavour, on the inside; just cigarettes in a piece of folded, glued paper.
Djarum Super is probably my favourite cigarette; so full, so rich and so tasty. From a pack of those, I saved the last one for almost two weeks, while trying other kreteks. When I finally smoked the Super, it was pretty much dead, and had lost lots of taste. No surprise then, if the Sampoerna Dji Sam Soe 234 lose a little, a lot or most of what they are supposed to have, in such an inadequate wrapping.
Unlit, this cigarette smells nicely of tobacco, and weakly, vaguely of something else, possibly dead cloves. Just to make sure, I asked a few folks (non-smokers, even - better sense of smell) what they think of the unlit smell. They all liked it, but said that it smells a lot less than the other cigs that I have asked them to sniff.
Smoking it, I found great, smooth, rich tobacco, in that Sampoerna blend that is very clearly different from Djarum and Gudang Garam. I also found a very mild flavouring in the smoke, pleasant certainly, but very weak. As for cloves/spices, there wasn´t much. Crackling, and some eugenol effect in the mouth, yes, but not a lot of taste.
These can last a long time, though that varies a lot: one was super-packed, barely smokable, and lasted 26 minutes. Another one "vanished" in 14 minutes.
They came in a pack of 16, by the way, not 12. Very nice.
Those 3 stars are on the weaker end, by the way, 3.1-ish.
In the end, I´m not quite sure what to say. Tobacco is really good, really non-Djarum/non-GG, and rich. Everything else is very weak. Are they meant to be like this, or have they leaked out all the good stuff through the idiotic paper pack? Maybe you have to get really lucky with a pack that was made a few days ago, and properly stored or something. Seriously, how hard can it be; you make your cigs, you seal them in plastic like Djarum, Wismilak, GG and Bentoel do; you then put them in a box/softpack and then seal that box in plastic, like Djarum, Wismilak, GG and Bentoel do.
I might just try these again, that was some good tobacco, and the 16-pack is nice too, but I would really like to see at least one protective, flavour-sealing layer in the pack.
Right now, I don´t feel that I have really tried the Sampoerna Dji Sam Soe 234 properly.
I have tried Ciggies World many times, though, and they always deliver. Buy from them with confidence.

I am extremely happy to say today I finally received my package. I don't think I have ever been to happy to receive a package in my life. the selection you're website has is the best and they are 100 times better than the cloves they sell in the US. I really want to thank you all and the wait for them was well worth it. I'll wait as long as I need because the quality, packaging and customer service is amazing. I know it's not your fault USPS messed up but at least I got them! I cannot wait to make my next purchase :) thank you again!!!

Don't know if I got a bad pack or if the package got too hot in shipping. But the 234 fatsals are dry and crunchy. I order 2 cartons of different cigs and all of packs are fresh but these ones. Don't know if I'm going to smoke.
Other then that ciggies world is awesome. My order came in 10 days super quick shipping.
I might try the super premiums next time because because they are individually wrapped. The fatsals 234 are just wrapped in a paper pack and not with plastic to seal in the freshness like all the other brands.

Thank you Ciggiesworld; can't get too many cigarettes like these in the states. Very strong cigarette with a long burn time if you are relaxing, though if you need to finish it off it's not impossible; just be careful that a clove doesn't pop off onto your lap! I will be posting a review of praise on YouTube. Further, the packaging was tight, protective and waterproof, keeping them quite fresh. As soon as I broke through the third layer of packaging, I could smell the cloves.

As soon as I realized I could smell the cigarettes through the packaging, I knew they'd be an experience. From the packaging, to the aroma, to the cigarettes themselves, the whole deal oozes quality. Lighting one up demands a view and a time to think. With 20+ minutes of burning time, these cigarettes are the perfect companion when one needs to simply get away. They're plenty strong too, with 39mg of tar and 2.3mg of nicotine. The flavour is smooth, the body is huge and the buzz is surprisingly mild. A beautifully-crafted cigarette that needs to be tried... just don't smoke a whole pack in one day.

first things first thank you so much for the service ciggies world without you we would be in a loss....and coming back to the stick it was some experience....huge body and aroma of the clove is over whelming and hard to tell you smoke with tobacco or just cloves, this thing can lit up to 20min which is due to the tight hand rolled tobacco, it help to have this with a sweet coffee to a any hot brew also will help you to reduce the numbness you get it after you smoke. i recommend this to all clove smokers 10/10.

I have a bit of a soft spot for these. These really are strong as heck. Very upfront and assertive tobacco taste, but also a very assertive clove taste. The thing I really enjoy about these is how they have such a pure clove taste- in other kreteks, such as Djarum 76s, there's fruity notes and notes of other spices. These on the other hand, are just like smelling a jar of dried cloves. Pretty minimalistic when it comes to flavor, but boy are they strong and tasty. These are hand rolled, so quality control seems to be a bit jumpy- some are much tighter rolled than others, and some have much less cloves than others.

I consider Dji Sam Soe (234) to be the Holy Grail of commercially available clove cigarettes. The taste is definitely the primary attraction, and the paper is flavored to boot. The smoke is extremely smooth, but don't be fooled as You'll feel these. They tend to burn for quite awhile in contrast to many other brands (lasting at least 15-20 minutes) due to how tightly they are packed. For this, I think the higher cost is justified, but it all depends on what kind of smoker you really are. These aren't my primary brand, as I consider them to be somewhat of a treat to indulge in when appropriate. Give these a try if you see them, but don't be so quick to chuck your Camels.

These are odd cigarettes...I feel like it's an insult to even call them cigarettes. They come in an unusual paper, square, exotic packaging, and the cigs themselves are thick and are wrapped in a sugar coated paper. You can't even notice you are inhaling these, they're as smooth as air. What you will notice is the amazing flavor, the pleasant aroma, and that neat crackling sound they make when you take a puff. These clove candy-sticks taste like a nice, spicy pumpkin pie, and have the smells of a cozy bakery. These things don't burn very fast and that's a good thing; it gives you plenty of time to take a break and savor the flavor. The clove smell is pretty strong, even noticeable on an unopened pack. The store clerk I bought these from took a sniff of the pack before he handed it over. The only downside to these is there really isn't much of a buzz Sampoerna 234 are a soothing treat to have on special occasion.
